  • Webcast October 13th, 2021 - Making It REAL: In Silico Workflow from 4D CT to FEA

    Wed, Oct 13, 2021 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM BST

For this webinar, Simpleware, Duke University, the Johns Hopkins University and Thornton Tomasetti have teamed up to demonstrate a workflow for an in silico study of aortic valve frame deployments for 5 patients. The workflow includes: automatic segmentation and landmarking (Synopsys/Simpleware) of 4D CT patient data (Duke) to define models for the aorta and left ventricle, utilizing the segmentations and landmarks to morph the models from time frame to time frame to model the cardiac motion (Johns Hopkins), then conversion of the 4D models into the final FEA model (Thornton Tomasetti) to assess an aortic valve frame deployment using Abaqus.

The in silico approach can boost productivity and regulatory compliance for major manufacturers and agile startups alike. As the medical devices industry moves towards a digital ecosystem, in silico trials are becoming a reality for the Med Dev industry. So please join our webinar to discuss how we can all cross the chasm between people’s needs for digital solutions and their abilities to master the complexities of the required tools including AI based images segmentation and mechanistic, multi-physics simulation.

In this webinar you will learn about:
    • AI-enabled automatic segmentation of the heart with Simpleware ScanIP and ASCardio
    • Application of segmentations and landmarks to derive the cardiac motion through morphing
    • Detailed FEA analysis on a heart valve frame deployment for 5 selected patient datasets

Speakers: Can Ceritoglu PhD, Assistant Research Associate, Johns Hopkins University; Elham Ramyar PhD, Project Engineer, Thornton Tomasetti; Kerim Genc PhD, Business Development Manager, Synopsys; Chris Goddard PhD, Applications Engineer Synopsys
