The Great Plains Biomechanics and Human Movement Variability conferences are held together every year in Omaha, Nebraska. Our conferences gather hundreds of students, faculty, and scientists from all over the world. The attendees can tour our amazing facilities at the 50,000 sqft Biomechanics Research Building (BRB) and see all of our amazing equipment for doing cutting edge research in biomechanics.

    Details:
This year we are hosting the 3rd Annual Great Plains Biomechanics Conference and the 7th Annual Human Movement Variability Conference. This year’s conferences will offer a hybrid format and have both an in-person and a virtual component. This will be a two-day event plus one virtual day and pre-conference workshops. The conferences bring together biomechanics, neuroscientists, cognitive science, motor control, and other researchers and students from the Great Plains region (Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Oklahoma) and other neighboring states (Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri) to discuss the current state and future of biomechanics research and provide excellent opportunities to explore exciting new research areas related to human movement variability. This regional meeting aims to (1) provide valuable networking opportunities to students and promote exceptional student work, (2) introduce unique biomechanical analyses to current researchers, (3) promote ASB membership and attendance at the annual ASB meeting, and, most importantly, (4) facilitate the exchange of ideas to further grow biomechanics research in the Great Plains region.

The variety of sessions proposed for this conference aims to bring together researchers, students, and industry partners. The lab tours, student social, and networking sessions will give students ample opportunities to connect with scientists and potential employers in a casual setting to aid in professional development. We have secured two distinguished keynote speakers that will introduce attendees to new and innovative biomechanics research. The workshops will train students and researchers alike in sophisticated analysis techniques related to human movement variability. Awards will be given for best scientific podium, best poster, and more! A special competition including a podium session for the Promising Student Award will highlight exceptional student work across the Great Plains region and assist in further developing professional and scientific presentation skills.
