Cleveland State University is proud to be hosting the 2026 Midwest American Society of Biomechanics Conference. This one is different because of the focus on AI.
This is an incredible opportunity for students – it is free if they give a poster or podium presentation. However, the deadline for abstracts is approaching (August 29th).

In addition, HAS Motion will be offering a workshop on “Preparing Biomechanical Data for Machine Learning and AI”.
If this is not enough, we have multiple industry sponsors, and are planning on a second workshop, a career-planning panel, an early-morning (optional) Yoga session and multiple podium and poster sessions.

As a preview of the conference keynote addresses:
- Dr. Deanna Gates (University of Michigan) will speak on improving mobility and balance through novel approaches to prosthetic design and control.
- Dr. Kath Bogie (Veterans Administration) will cover machine learning models for the development of multiomic risk profiling of multimorbidity in spinal cord injury/disorders
- Dr. Nina Moore (Cleveland Clinic) will discuss how experimental data from blood vessels and fluid flow circuits are used for models of cerebral arteries and arteriovenous malformations.
- Dr. Mariana Kersh (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign) will discuss experimental methods to evaluate macro-level mechanical and structural properties of connective tissues.
