I have a question regarding the biomechanical effects of femoral anteversion on the hip musculature during gait? Clark & Haynot (1987) proposed that excessive femoral anteversion could alter the hip abductor vector to produce an extensor moment. Nyland et al. (2004) noted a decrease in the ratio of gluetus medius mean peak EMG amplitude to composite hip abductor mean peak EMG amplitude in female subjects with excessive anteversion during non-weight bearing isometric contractions. My question is: does excessive anteversion alter the EMG temporal recruitment profile of the gluteus medius during the gait cycle? Thank you.
