Does anyone know of a study or studies that have assessed the range, and more specifically the upper limits, of Ia afferent discharge rates in humans? I have found numerous studies that has assessed cats showing rates in excess of 400 Hz (PROCHAZKA, R. A. WESTERMAN & S. P. ZICCONE, 1977) but can not seem to find a study identifying a range or limit in humans.
There have been studies that have shown rates of 10-50Hz for small slow sinusoidal movements (Kakuda & Nagaoka, 1998; Kakuda, 2000) but nothing on high frequency movements.
Any information would be appreciated.
