The University of Salford is pleased to announce a new master's degree programme in Clinical Gait Analysis by part-time distance learning over three years. It is designed to support those already working in instrumented clinical gait analysis services who are enrolling with the support of their employers. The programme aims to develop clinical gait analysts with a full range of clinical and technical competencies and we are thus looking for a mix of students from both technical and clinical backgrounds. The task-based programme will assume that students have access to a gait analysis system (3d kinematics and kinetics as a minimum, preferably with EMG) with which to make measurements on able-bodied volunteers. Interpretation exercises can be based on anonymous locally collected clinical data where local health information legislation permits or on a central repository of case data if this is not possible.
Requirements are a good undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Access to internet and sufficient information technology to support the on-line learning is required and good information literacy will be assumed.
The programme will start in late September this year. Further details can be found at http://www.salford.ac.uk/courses/clinical-gait-analysis which includes a link for on-line applications. The course will be limited to 10 students in the first year.
The programme is part of the European Union funded CMAster programme but is not limited to European applicants.
