  • Biomech Software for Mac

Can you please recommend a software for mac to analyze human sports movements?
Seems that most of the commercial software are build for PC or to be used with Boot Camp in mac.

I'm looking for one that can be used to track angles, measure simple movement parameters from videos taken in the field with regular and high speed cameras.
    Thank you for your help!

    HI Daniel,
there is a software called VidSync which is supposed to allow kinematic analyses. I have not used it yet but it might be worth trying it. It is freeware and can be downloaded from http://mac.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/VidSync.shtml.
If you will use it a feedback would be much appreciated.
    Cheers

    Axel

      Dear Dr. Daniel Kamenetzky

I consulted Xcitex, Inc. about ProAnalyst software and I received the answer reproduced below:
Xcitex, ProCapture, low-cost, motion, capture, system, analysis system, video, data capture, ProAnalyst, markerless, tracking, advanced, solution, data collection, MiDAS DA, high-speed, cameras, 300 fps, biological subjects, software, 32 channels of data collection, monitor, gauges, sensors, force plates, EMG inputs, 2ms/sec, automatically, synchronized, project, scientists, biomechanics, kinesiology, mechanical engineering, shock and vibration, automotive, streaming, 500 frames/second

Thank you for the email and your question. ProAnalyst is a Windows based program, but we have many users using Windows emulators to run ProAnalyst without any problems. Some examples of emulators are BootCamp and Parallels.

If you have any additional questions, please feel free to write or call.

      Best regards,

Thank you very much both for the responses I will try them and see how they work. In windows base, through bootcamp, there are several options but I rather try first a software built for mac.

The OpenSim API will run natively on Mac OS X. The GUI did not work on Mac the last time I tried but that was a couple years ago so maybe things have changed.
