Standards for gait analysis lab.

Hi everyone,

I am going to start a three dimensional gait analysis with Vicon MX+ cameras and AMTI force plate. Could some one help me to guide me for the standards and any especial requirements to establish a new gait lab as well as to maintain the standards for international community?

The Clinical gait lab community in the UK and Ireland (Clinical Movement Analysis Society, CMAS) has done substantial work over the past few years to establish standards for practice across the gait labs that do clinical work. These standards are now in operation and all member labs are regularly audited and accredited against these standards. If this is applicable to your application then I suggest getting in touch with the society directly:

A group has also recently done work to provide standards/guidance for professionals providing the technical input to running clinical movement analysis services (as opposed to the therapy/medic professions) and this document is available through the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine:
