  • Body Height and walking kinematics

    Hello,

Does anyone know any references for papers that have shown the changes that occur to walking kinematics due to differences in body height?

    Thanks

    Andy

    Hi Andy,

There is a new paper just out by Sheehan and Gottschall in the Journal of Biomechanics that may be of interest: 'Segment lengths influence hill walking strategies'.

    Good luck with your search.

      Thanks Angela,

That is exactly what I was after. I've also found
Differences in gait parameters at a preferred walking speed in healthy subjects due to age, height and body weight by Samson (2001), but am waiting for my library to send me a copy.

I'm amazed more hasn't been done on this.

Re: Body Height and walking kinematics

        Hi Andy,

We have developed a methodology for predicting human gait kinematics based on the body parameters using a statistical method called Gaussian process regression (GPR). Body height is one of 14 parameters that we analyzed. Please see link for our paper below and please let me know if you have any questions.
