Re: Standardized Shoe Recommendation for Gait Analysis
Dear Dr. John,
Perhaps a shoe with these characteristics may be useful:
- the shoe laces is far from the placement point of Left/Right TOE markers,
- the ankle will be exposed and allow the placing of markers directly on the malleolus,
- reflective material is not used as the running shoes;
- in the static trial the foot should remain parallel to the ground and the foot vector will be determined without interference footwear.
I hope some of this information may be helpful in your research.

Standardized Shoe Recommendation for Gait Analysis
Hello,
Our lab is purchasing a set of walking/running shoes to use as a standardized shoe for research participants during gait motion capture (marker/camera w/ instrumented treadmill system), and we are looking for any recommendations? We would not be planning on modifying the shoes for a foot model.
We are thinking a relatively inexpensive, neutral, running shoe, but interested in any suggestions that you have used and worked well.
Thank you!
