  • Kinect Powered Dinosaur Simulations

Any of you involved in public engagement may be interested in knowing that we have just released GaitSymKinect with 6 different dinosaur musculoskeletal CAD models for education and outreach. The idea is that you use the Kinect to track the user's movement, and the forward dynamic simulation tries to match the dinosaur movement. It is all fairly simple but it is useful for getting the conversations started. I haven't done it but you could easily use the human model too which might be handy for teaching people about which muscles cause which movements. It's still a work in progress but people might find it useful and/or interesting. You can download it from:

    http://www.animalsimulation.org

And anyone with a 3D printer can print out some very nice dinosaur models for Christmas.

    Cheers
