  • methods to capture lumbo-pelvic motion using stereophotogrammetry

I am a physiotherapist looking into altered movements patterns in patients post hip replacement surgery. I am using a Vicon system to evaluate lumbo-pelvic motion. I am still looking into the best sensor placement. I am looking for advice from those with previous experiences ( the good and the bad) in the area. Any advice would be greatly received.
    many thanks in advance

    Hi Margot,

Are you talking about anatomical or technical clusters? Not sure if surgical site and length is an issue to consider.

Visual 3D's website has some good visuals of common pelvic marker sets (http://www.c-motion.com/v3dwiki/inde...Set_Guidelines)
You can use posterior clusters (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23790572)
For my purpose I had to use lateral pelvic clusters as technical markers (data in review)

    Hope it helps

    Bernard

      Dear Bernard
thank you very much for your input. I was trying to use anatomical markers but not sure if this is wise ( it seems logical but that is my physiotherapy brain talking)? The first task is to see whether my set up will be sensitive enough to detect changes in hip to pelvis/ pelvic to lumbar spine regions as I plan to look at pre and post hip replacement patients. I have found very little comparing same subjects data.
thanks again for your time and interest
      kind regards
      Margot
