  • Joint torque during swing phase

What would be the better approach/method to calculate joint moments during the swing phase? It can be collected data from cameras data and/or from inertial sensores (like x-senses). How about the accuracy?

This would be a great start:

During swing phase you have the luxury of not needing a force plate, so you are not constrained to working in a laboratory. Therefore, I'd say it would be perfectly suited to an inertial approach. Historically, film developed before force plates (Elftman 1938), so the swing phase was the first to be analysed (see http://clinicalgaitanalysis.com/hist...ghtenment.html). The support phase kinetics were 'filled in' by inverse dynamics going up the swing leg across the trunk (HAT) and down the contralateral leg! Double support was always a bit of a mystery until force plates.
