    CALL OF PAPERS
Special Issue on Evaluation and Attenuation of Negative Effects of Whole Body Vibration on Human Body
    Guest Editors:
Yuksel Hacioglu, Yener Taskin, Yunus Ziya Arslan and Nurkan Yagiz
Department of Mechanical Engineering, Istanbul University, Turkey
    Objective
Whole body vibration (WBV) is the transmission of low frequency environmental vibration to the human body when in contact with the vibrating surface. It is commonly experienced by drivers, operators and passengers in vehicles and machines. Long-term exposures to WBV may cause various health problems such as musculoskeletal, cardiovascular and digestive problems. It can also result in impairment of vision and balance, and discomfort that could lead to accidents. Evaluation and decreasing of the negative effects of whole body vibration on human body is a vibrant research area.
This special issue is dedicated to the latest research findings in evaluation and attenuation of negative effects of vibration on health, safety and comfort in occupational workplaces and daily living environments. Scientists and investigators are invited to contribute original research and review articles addressing topics of this special issue.
    Scope
Prospective authors are encouraged to consider the following non-exhaustive list of topics as a guide to submit their work for possible publication in this issue
    · Biomechanical evaluation of the negative effects of WBV on human body
    · Biodynamic human body models exposed to WBV
    · Occupational ergonomics in high-vibration areas
    · Prevention of vibration-related motion sickness and musculoskeletal injuries
    · Ergonomic vehicle seat design
    · Ride comfort improvement via vehicle suspension system control
    · Experimental techniques for WBV measurement
    · Modelling, simulation and analysis of whole body system dynamics
    · Finite element analysis of the musculoskeletal systems exposed to WBV
Emphasis will be given on the recent developments in attenuation of the negative effects of vibration on health, safety and comfort in the occupational workplaces and the daily living environments. Theoretical and experimental up-to-date research findings in the broad area of WBV will be published in the special issue. Review articles are also welcomed.
    Submission/acceptance schedule
All papers submitted for consideration with view of publication in this special issue will be subjected to the normal peer review process of the Journal of Low Frequency Noise, Vibration and Active Control. It is envisaged that accepted papers will be published in either the June 2017 or September 2017 issue of the journal. Interested authors are suggested to adhere to the following schedule:
30 September 2016: Deadline for submission of initial 500 words abstract of intended paper
15 October 2016: Notification of acceptance of abstract and invitation for submission of full-length paper
15 January 2017: Deadline for submission of full-length paper
15 April 2017: Notification of acceptance of paper
    Submission of papers
Authors are advised to consult the guidance for authors on the journal’s web-site at (http://lfn.sagepub.com/) for preparation of their paper.
Authors are further advised to submit the initial 500-words abstract of their intended paper to the Guest co-Editor at (yukselh@istanbul.edu.tr, ytaskin@istanbul.edu.tr, yzarslan@istanbul.edu.tr or nurkan@istanbul.edu.tr ), and if invited for full-length paper submission to submit their full paper to the Editor-in-Chief of the journal at (o.tokhi@sheffield.ac.uk) according to the key dates above.
