  • Open source video based kinematic analysis software for undergraduate biomechanics

I am looking at open source options for video analysis software that I can use for a senior level undergraduate class in biomechanics. I came across this discussion thread from 2011 (http://biomch-l.isbweb.org/threads/2...e-for-teaching). I think there may be newer and perhaps better options available now.

Has anybody compared and tried different open source software recently? I would love to hear your thoughts about their relative strengths and weaknesses.

    Thanks,
    Tarkesh

I wrote a JavaScript digitizer that I used for my classes several years ago. I just checked and of course it doesn't work anymore (very little seems to work in Internet Explorer these days). But you might be able to fix it if you know JavaScript (right click... view source): http://clinicalgaitanalysis.com/cour.../2D/digitizer/

I used the open source Tracker software last fall for my Biomechanics course. Students seems to pick-up on the details of the software well. There are good YouTube video tutorials that can be used as reference. Haven't really compared it to other options to know strengths and weaknesses.
