  • Plug-in Gait modelled outputs

    Hi all

New to this forum and to the world of 3d capture so please bare with me as i may ask a simple question. I have been assigned the role of managing the 3d capture of patients in a gait lab using vicon nexus. We have a 13 camera system operating within a small lab at a local hospital. I have no background experience using Vicon at all so it has been a journey developing my understanding of the system as well as the plug-in gait which we are using. As the sole user of the system, I have found that i have no one to bounce questions off so i have to do my own researching which has been a great challenge among the other roles i play at the hospital. Sorry for the intro but thought it was important to give a brief intro into myself.

My question is pertaining to the outputs that the plug-in gait model produces. I need to track the pelvis and head segments (among other outputs) to quantify segment stability during walking trials. Can anyone direct me to any literature that helps explain how this has been done in the past? since plug-in gait ,models the 'PEL' and 'HED' bones, would i use these when determining stability?

    Thanks

    Hi Mark,

Can you elaborate on what you mean by segment stability? Or if not, just more generally what you would like to quantify or what the outputs will be used for?

      Hi Mark,

Anytime you have a question of this type I'd suggest starting by asking the manufacturer for a list of papers that reference the software and start there. Other resources like Chris Kirtley's Clinical Gait Analysis web site may be useful in guiding you towards answers.
