  • CoM output using Visual3D

    Good day!

I am a postgrad from Australia and am involved in a project using Vicon to analyse rock climbers to understand how climbing fluency affects CoM pathway.

We used a comprehensive marker set, with markers place on all joints with tracking markers placed on each segment. I built my 6DOF model as I have done in the past by defining and linking each segment. As I have never analysed CoM using Visual3D I followed the online wiki tutorials. According to the wiki using compute model based data, then select Model COG under model based properties, and then select lab as the resolution coordinate system.

I have come unstuck with getting CoM output from Visual3D, each time I attempt to get CoM as an output it fails. I would also like to get the visual pathway of the CoM on the model graphic itself if possible.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi Shane,

Sorry there may be a double reply, if you see this post twice. What do you mean by output failing? I have outputted model cog with no issues. as for viewing, go to view<modify 3d... < 3d animations and there is an option for you

      Thank you for reply Bernard.

The issue is that the model is not computing cog at all. From what I can see it should at least visually show cog on the model, as well as the data in under the linked model tree. I assume I must be doing something wrong with the actual model as it is not computing cog at all.

Yes there should be COG visible on the model, when you remove the skeletal image. There should be a COG signal under link_model_based too. Weird if you do not see any. Is your model a kinetic model? or pure kinematic?

Turns out the issue was that I hadn't unticked the kinematic only box, simple solution that cause many a headache
