Biomechanics folks,
I’m working to put together an annotated bibliography for Oxford Bibliography and wanted to get input from the community.
My aim is to compile a list of books and articles on Evolutionary Biomechanics for students, scientists, and teachers to use as a resource and your input would be great!
Specifically I’m looking for your recommendations on books and articles that are the most important, influential, foundational, or summarize specific topics under the evolutionary biomechanics umbrella with 2-3 sentences summarizing it and/or explaining why that source is important.
These are the subtopics I’ve come up with under evolutionary biomechanics, and am totally open to other suggestions.
General Overviews/Books - General or summary publications or books on evolutionary biomechanics
Journals - What journals typically publish biomechanical studies?
Historical - Classic or foundational publications in biomechanics
Modeling/Simulations - Including mathematical modeling
and then under Modeling/Simulations
Solid Mechanics - Stress or deformations through a structure, forward dynamics and inverse dynamics
Fluid Mechanics - Fluid (liquid or gas) movement, forces, etc
Neuro-Muscular-Skeletal - Descriptions of organisms’ movement, forces, and control
Functional/Ecological Morphology - Connecting biomechanically relevant traits to organisms’ ecology/evolution
I’m thinking of sources you’ve used to design classes or papers you've read or assigned for preliminary exams would be really great.
If you could email me a list of citations and short summaries for whatever categories your familiar with, I’d really appreciate it! This would also be a great assignment for your grad students!
Also, please send me any comments or questions you have and forward this to anyone else you think might be interested in contributing.
Thanks!
-Travis
