I am developing a project involving inverse dynamics using IMU-derived kinematic data and force plate-derived kinetic data. One issue that I am running into is transforming the IMU and force plate data into the same coordinate system. My brief search shows a few methods described in the literature for establishing an IMU global coordinate system: a) Use of the gravitational vector and magnetic north to establish a coordinate system, b) Use of a neutral "T" pose to establish reference orientations for each IMU, and c) Use of a "master" IMU as a reference system.
Has anybody else run into this issue? Is anybody aware of any suitable methods for transforming IMU data into a global coordinate system?
Thank you!
