Barron International Research Scholar
The Biomechanics Laboratory at Penn State has a long history of collaborative research and recognizes the benefits of attracting leading overseas scholars. To further these goals, we are launching the Barron International Research Scholar Program aimed at attracting enthusiastic and talented international scholars (based outside the USA) from the broad biomechanics domains to embark on a collective research project within the Biomechanics Laboratory. The program aims to foster cross-fertilization of ideas, techniques and procedures, and the facilitation of a global research network.
Barron Scholars will visit the Biomechanics Laboratory at Penn State for a 2-month period. Each Barron Scholar will be reimbursed for travel and living expenses up to USD $8,000. During the visit, it is expected that the Barron Scholar will interact with one or more Biomechanics Laboratory faculty and students in undertaking a pre-defined collaborative research project within the areas of expertise and focus in the Biomechanics Laboratory. Barron Scholars will have the opportunity to receive training on equipment and techniques and will participate in workshops, seminars and discussions within the Biomechanics Laboratory to help reach their research goals. It is encouraged that applicants contact in advance the Biomechanics Laboratory faculty to discuss project ideas and feasibility.
The Barron International Research Scholar Program is aimed primarily at postdoctoral fellows and faculty members, but doctoral students are welcome to apply. Students and scholars who are already studying at an institution in the U.S. on a visa should enquire with their international office before applying to determine if and how they can be reimbursed for their travel.
