  • Help in setting up a Rice Lake RoughDeck floor scale with a DAC

    Hi all,

Our lab has a couple of older models of the Rice Lake RoughDeck floor scales that have not been used in a few years. We also have the original signal conditioner transmitters that go with the scales. What we are wanting to do is use these as portable plates to use outside the lab. To do that, I am trying to find the best solution to hook these scales up to our lab laptop so we can collect the force data from the scales. I believe we will need a DAC in order to make this happen. Does anyone have any experience with these RoughDeck scales or how to collect data from them? Thanks!

    Hi,
I think using a DAC is not a proper way because the signals are converted from analog to digital once. if there is no option for a PC connection like RS232 or ethernet on your device that probably should have, you can replace an ADC instead of the original ADC and make your application. Of course, you should have each load cell's sensitivity.
