PhD studentships
The Biomedical and Bioimaging Consortium in Tissue Engineering (BBCTE)
across The University of Western Australia (UWA), Griffith University
(UGriff) and the University of Auckland (UAuck) has recently been awarded an
ARC linkage grant to study and develop tissue engineered implants to treat
tendinopathy. Subsequently we have 6 PhD studentships of 3.5 years duration
to study in following areas.
1) Cellular profiling of repair of native normal, pathological and tissue
engineered tendon tissue (UWA)
2) Continued development of bioreactors and procedures to create tissue
engineered tendon tissue (UWA)
3) Computational biological modelling of cellular repair pathways of native
normal, pathological and tissue engineered tendon tissue (UWA)
4) In vivo assessment and measurement of tendon tissue properties and
biomechanics (UWA)
5) Computational biomechanics of in vivo tendon tissue properties and
biomechanics (UGriff)
6) Computational biomechanics/biological of tissue engineered tendon
properties and biomechanics (UAuck)
The PhD studentships are open to Australian nationals and international
students. Each studentship will cover international student fees (if
required) and a tax free living allowance (~$25,000 per year indexed). Each
of the Universities reserves the right to appoint by invitation and to not
fill the positions. The deadline for applications is January 31st 2011.
