Graduate assistantships are available in the Biomechanics Laboratory of the Department of Exercise and Sport Science at East Carolina University. Students will pursue a Master's degree in exercise science / biomechanics for two years in projects funded in part by the National Institutes of Health, examining the mechanisms of gait adaptations in aging using 3D motion analysis and electromyography. The exercise neuroscience studies focus on the motor cortical mechanisms of acute and chronic adaptations to exercise using transcranial magnetic brain stimulation in humans. Stipend is $3,750/semester. Outstanding applicants (GPA > 3.5, GRE verbal + quantitative > 1100, GMAT > 570, MAT > 402), are eligible to apply for a $4,000 Graduate Scholar Award.
