Position for a Postdoctoral Fellow at Northeastern University
Dagmar Sternad, Action Lab, Northeastern University
Departments of Biology, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Physics
Center for the Interdisciplinary Research in Complex Systems
We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to work in the area of sensorimotor control and computational neuroscience. Our research is on motor control and learning, with a focus on stability and variability in human sensorimotor systems. Our laboratory is fully equipped with state-of-the-art experimental facilities, including a virtual reality set-up with a robot manipulandum, 3D motion analysis system, force plates, EMG and EEG. The candidate will get involved in existing research projects but is also encouraged to bring to bear his/her expertise to jointly develop new research directions. The position is for one year, with possible renewal for three years.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in one of the following disciplines: Engineering Sciences, Physics, Neuroscience, Kinesiology or Biology. The applicant should demonstrate an academic record of scientific excellence, independent research, a strong interest in an interdisciplinary approach and should have expertise in at least one of the following fields: motor control, motor neuroscience, biomechanics, dynamic modeling. Experience in programming is expected (Matlab, C++, Graphics programming, Statistics packages, etc.).
The Action Lab is connected with the Departments of Biology, Electrical and Computer Engineering and Physics at Northeastern University as well as the Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Complex Systems. Northeastern University is a dynamically growing research university located in the heart of Boston with its unparalleled academic environment. Our lab has collaborations with colleagues at other institutions in the Boston area, which provides stimulating opportunities for interdisciplinary research.
Applicants should submit a curriculum vita to Dagmar Sternad (dagmar@neu.edu), including a list of publications, and two letters of recommendation to be sent directly to Dagmar Sternad. Applications should be sent before February 15, 2011, the position is expected to be filled by June 2011.
