The Department of Physical Therapy, School of Health Sciences, Winston-Salem State University welcomes applications for a full-time, tenure track position with teaching and research expertise in Adult Neurology in a rapidly expanding Doctorate of Physical Therapy program.
Winston-Salem State University is one of the fastest growing universities in the University of North Carolina System and is located in the beautiful Piedmont-Triad region of North Carolina. The program has enjoyed a significant expansion in the past five years with the creation of a virtual hospital with the latest in human patient simulation technology and a state-of-the-art Human Movement and Biodynamics Lab (www.biodynamicslab.org) in collaboration with the Surgical Services Department of Wake Forest University. Faculty members also enjoy access to the Center for Design Innovation, an inter-institutional center created by Winston-Salem State University, North Carolina School of the Arts, and Forsyth Technical Community College. The Center for Design Innovation fosters cross-disciplinary research and entrepreneurial activity related to design and innovation, provides educational programming focused on design and innovation, and acts as a design-based business cluster accelerator, to make the Piedmont Triad Region of North Carolina a recognized center of design across the country. Faculty opportunities are also available for clinical practice in the physical therapy community practice clinic or through the "RAMS Know How" interdisciplinary mobile clinic.
Qualifications:
An earned academic doctorate in physical therapy or a related field along with the ability to teach neuromuscular physical therapy and related courses is required. A U.S. license to practice physical therapy and eligibility for physical therapy licensure in North Carolina is also required. Candidates must present evidence of prior teaching experience and 3-5 years of clinical practice experience in neuromuscular physical therapy. Applicants with performing arts physical therapy background are also encouraged to apply.
