  • PhD Research Studentship: TMJ implant - Study and development a new TMJ implant

    Applications are invited for a PhD research Studentship within the School of Mechanical Engineering at University of Aveiro, Portugal. The studentship is for a period of one year renewed until three years, subject to satisfactory progress and 980,00€ per month (tax free), by bank transfer or Cheque

    Project title: TMJ implant - Study and development a new TMJ implant

    This project will involve design and develop simulation device of the actions undertaken in the temporomandibular joint during chewing at different activities. Develop and validate numerical model capable of reproducing the state of deformation in temporomandibular joint. The work includes experimental mechanics. The work group includes the collaborators Prof. Carlos Relvas, Prof. Michel Mesnard, France.

    Applicants should normally hold an MSc, or have a good first degree, in a Biomechanics or Mechanical Engineering or related subject. Applicants should have knowledge of computing or other related discipline. An MSc in one of these areas is also highly desirable. In addition, applicants should have excellent oral and written communication English skills, as well as competence in research methods

    The successful applicant will join the Biomechanics Research Group at University of Aveiro (www.ua.pt), which has an established track record in biomechanical research. The studentship will be supervised by Prof. António Ramos and Prof. Michel Mesnard. A commencement date of April 2011 is desirable.
