At the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Health Science and Technology a position as postdoc in Biomechanics is open for appointment from 1 June 2011 to 31 May 2012 or soon thereafter. The position is available for a period of 2 years.
The Department of Health Science and Technology carries out multidisciplinary research and teaching in the area of health science and technology. The department has more than 150 scientific employees and has the main responsibility for more than 700 phd, candidate and master students within Biomedical Engineering, Health Informatics, Medicine, Medicine with Industrial Specialization, Clinical Science and Technology, and Sports Science. More than 65 phd-students are enrolled in the doctoral school affiliated to the department.
Job description
Research areas will be within musculoskeletal modeling of the lower extremity, specifically the human ankle joint complex.
The Postdoc will join the Physical Activity and Human Performance Group within the Center for Sensory-Motor Interaction at the Department of Health Science and Technology, Aalborg University. Currently the group consists of 2 Professors, 7 Associate Professors, 2 post-doctoral fellows. The group conducts research in six laboratories that comprise advanced facilities for human and clinical experiments as well as unique instrumentation and methodologies developed by the group.
Applicants will have successfully completed a PhD, and experience with movement analysis and modeling of the human musculoskeletal system (C-Motion, BodyBuilder, SIMM/Open SIM, AnyBody or similar). A background in mechanical engineering and knowledge on finite element modeling is advantageous. Applicants should have an established record of experience in conducting experiments with human subjects and dissemination of research results through peer-reviewed publications. The project is funded by Det Frie Forskningsråd and will be conducted in collaboration with the AnyBody Research Group/Dept. of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at Aalborg University

Limited teaching within the area can be expected, but also in other study programmes at the University.
Appointment to Postdoc presupposes scientific qualifications at PhD–level or similar scientific qualifications. The research potential of each applicant will be emphasized in the overall assessment. Appointment as a Postdoc cannot exceed a period of four years in total at Aalborg University (appointment at Postdoc level cannot exceed a period of eight years in total in Denmark, however max. six years at Assistant Professor level - which includes Postdoc- at the same institution).
