One funded postdoctoral position is available to commence immediately in the Biomechanics Laboratory, Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Melbourne. The successful candidate will be supervised by Professor Marcus Pandy and will work closely with other postdoctoral fellows and graduate students based in the Biomechanics Laboratory.
The position is funded by the Australian Research Council under a Discovery Project grant. The purpose of the project will be to develop patient-specific musculoskeletal models to investigate muscle and joint function during gait. The position is available to local and international candidates and includes funding for 2 years in the first instance. The candidate will be involved in patient data collection, including MRI, motion capture and x-ray fluoroscopy.
The candidate must have a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Biomechanics, or a related discipline. In addition, the candidate should have:
(i) Experience in rigid-body modeling software, e.g., OpenSim, SD/FAST
(ii) Skills in programming, including Matlab, C++, and related software
(iii) Ability to collect and process gait data
The applicant is expected to have good communication skills in written and verbal English, and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary team alongside engineers, physiotherapists and orthopaedic surgeons. Classification and salary will depend on the qualifications of the applicant.
