    RESEARCH ASSISTANT POSITION
SENSORY MOTOR PERFORMANCE PROGRAM, REHABILITATION INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO

A research assistant position is available in the Neural Engineering Laboratory at the Sensory Motor Performance Program, Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago.

The successful candidate will participate in research experiments that that aim to minimize the motor impairment after neurological injury, such as stroke or spinal cord injury, using advanced techniques. In particular, the successful candidate will assist the lab manager in coordinating different activities. He also will participate in recruiting subjects, collecting and analyzing data for the purpose of quantifying the contributing factors to motor impairment, with the goal of optimizing treatment.

The Neural Engineering lab is equipped with several novel devices, which enable us to easily study many different joints in human subjects. Using this lab, we can quantify neuromuscular properties, kinematic and kinetic measures of performance, assess clinical measures of motor impairments and functional limitation, and investigate the effects of the interventions on multiple joints.

Applicants should have a bachelor or master degree in engineering (preferably biomedical engineering), kinesiology, or a related discipline.

The appointment can start immediately. Salary is negotiable, and commensurate with experience.

To apply, e-mail a cover letter with a statement of interests, a resume/curriculum vita, and the names of two individuals who can be

    SENSORY MOTOR PERFORMANCE PROGRAM
The Sensory Motor Performance Program (SMPP) at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC) is devoted to the study of musculoskeletal, neuromuscular, and sensory disorders that are associated with abnormal control of posture and movement. Faculty members have appointments in the Northwestern University Medical School and the Northwestern University Engineering School. Over hundred thirty research staff - including post-doctoral research associates, graduate students, and support staff -- make up a unique team of physicians, engineers, mathematicians, physiologists, and occupational & physical therapists for the study of motor and sensory dysfunctions. For additional information see:
