We have a Biomechanist Maternity Position available at the Paediatric Gait Analysis Service of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia.
The Paediatric Gait Analysis Service of NSW is a state-wide Service located at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead. The Gait Laboratory is equipped with a Vicon 8-camera 3D motion capture system, 3 AMTI six-component force plates, Zerowire 16 channel EMG system, access to a comprehensive suite of plantar pressure hardware and software, tandem instrumented walkway, isometric dynamometers and several specialised test jigs for the study of the neuro-musculo-skeletal system. The Paediatric Gait Analysis Service of NSW has a multidisciplinary team consisting of experts in biomechanics, physiotherapy, orthopaedic surgery and rehabilitation.
The Paediatric Gait Analysis Service of NSW Biomechanist will be required to perform three dimensional gait analyses for patients of the Service. This includes operating, processing, maintenance, testing and calibration of a range of measurement and analysis equipment for recording and understanding the biomechanical and musculoskeletal parameters relating to children’s gait. Patients attending the state-wide Service are primarily children with Cerebral Palsy or other neuromuscular condition requiring pre-operative or post-operative analysis.
The Biomechanist will also provide technical expertise to medical, research and allied health professionals relating to the measurement, analysis and understanding of gait and the equipment of the Service, and facilitate interpretation and reporting of the analyses. The role also involves contribution to the Paediatric Gait Analysis Service of NSW Research Registry.
