    c. £30.4K - £34.1K per annum inclusive

    This is a three year fixed term contract with the possibility of an extension to five years.

    We are looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join Jim Usherwood’s research group in the dynamic and successful Structure and Motion Laboratory at the Royal Veterinary College. This post is funded by Jim Usherwood’s 5-year Fellowship from The Wellcome Trust investigating strategies and constraints of powering locomotion with muscle using limbs that also provide weight support, under altered effective gravity.

    You will work with the Investigator as part of a multidisciplinary team supported by an electronics design engineer and technical staff. You will be a team player keen to capitalise on the unusual opportunity for interdisciplinarity and training this project offers and excited by the potential scientific advances.

    You should have a PhD in an engineering, physical or life science. You must be competent in programming (Matlab, Labview, C++ or equivalent) and be familiar with both Newtonian mechanics and evolutionary principles. Your background should be either in comparative biomechanics or mechanical engineering. You should be enthusiastic and highly motivated and have good organisational and interpersonal skills and be able to work with minimum supervision.
