    The Department of Human Physiology at the University of Oregon invites applications for a non-tenure track Career Instructor faculty position. The successful candidate will teach the Department’s three quarter Human Anatomy sequence, coordinate the associated cadaver-based teaching laboratory, and oversee the spring term cadaver dissection program. In addition, the successful candidate will take over undergraduate academic advising for the Department (following a training period with the current undergraduate advisor).

    The Department of Human Physiology has over 1000 majors and has strengths in engaging undergraduate teaching & cutting-edge biomedical research. The majority of our undergraduate majors are preparing for post-baccalaureate programs in health-related careers such as medicine, physical therapy, nursing, physician assistant, dentistry, pharmacy, and other allied health professions.

    Candidates with an earned Doctorate are preferred but candidates with a Masters degree will also be considered. Ideal qualifications include 2-years of demonstrated success as a University/College instructor, hands-on experience working with human cadavers and performing dissections (including craniotomies, musculoskeletal, abdominal & pelvic dissections), knowledge of histology, microanatomy, & systems physiology, and experience managing a teaching laboratory. The candidate should be able to demonstrate exceptional instructional skills and successfully include clinical examples in the classroom. Experience & interest in academic advising, undergraduate internship/practicum development, supervision of undergraduate peer-advisors, and curriculum development is also desirable.

    The successful applicant will be a leader in the undergraduate instructional and advising mission of the Department, engage in Departmental and University service, and collaborate with the instructor of our Human Physiology sequence to ensure that curriculum, classroom organization, inclusion of teaching assistants, and course philosophy, are in concordance. In addition, the successful candidate will have the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff and students with diverse backgrounds. Competitive salary support will be provided for this 9-month full-time Faculty position. Re-teaching of the same 3 courses in the summer for additional summer teaching salary will consistently be a Department need.

    Located 110 miles south of Portland, the University of Oregon has an enrollment over 24,000. The Eugene-Springfield metro area (population 215,000) is in a region noted for its high quality of life and progressive cultural environment. We are approximately an hour’s drive from the Pacific Coast and the Cascade Mountains. The University is an AAU research institution and a member of the Pac 12 conference.
