The UTHealth Motor Recovery Laboratory at TIRR Memorial Hermann Hospital (www.motorrecoveryhouston.org) is seeking a highly motivated researcher to join the laboratory and contribute to ongoing projects. The research laboratory is part of Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Texas – Medical School at Houston. The lab is housed in the outpatient clinic at TIRR Memorial Hermann Hospital that allows easy and convenient access to patient populations, including stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, amputation and pain.
A successful candidate should have a PhD degree in an area related to neuro-rehabilitation, such as movement neuroscience, kinesiology, rehabilitation science, etc. Experience with experimental studies of human motor function as well as knowledge of LabView and Matlab are essential. Experience with clinical studies, good English and communication skills are desired.
The new Post-Doctoral Fellow will be expected to contribute to some of the following ongoing research projects: 1) Localization of motor points using high-density surface EMG; 2) Electrical stimulation for neuropathic pain management; 3) Pathophysiology and management of spasticity. In addition, development of new projects in the area of stroke rehabilitation for possible grant submission and collaboration with other faculty members is strongly encouraged.
The initial appointment is for one year with a possibility of extension. Salary depends on the experience. The positions are available immediately. Positions will remain open until filled.
