A post doctoral research & development position is available with LIMBS International (www.limbsinternational.org). LIMBS is a non-profit corporation that designs, tests, and deploys ultra low-cost functional prosthetic devices for implementation in the developing world. LIMBS maintains high standards of research and development and seeks to meet established international standards.
The position will focus on projects within the general areas of Prosthetic Engineering and product development for ultra cost effective solutions for the developing world. Current projects are exploring integrated lower extremity devices such as blended models of SACH and ESAR feet, adaptable socket technology, etc. The successful candidate will work within a multi-disciplinary team comprised of engineers, prosthetists, musculoskeletal biomechanist and material science experts.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a PhD in a discipline related to Prosthetic Engineering or Human Locomotion (e.g. Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, etc.), with an excellent academic and publication record with experience in grant writing. The candidate must be able to work both independently and in a team environment. They must be extremely self-motivated and highly goal driven. Excellent written and oral communication skills are a requirement. Experience in international environments, supervisory roles, project management, and product development in prosthetic technology are highly preferred. Applicant must be a US citizen or have the needed permits to work in the US.
The position, which is available immediately, is for 1 year, with an option to renew a second year. Highly successful candidates will be eligible for a full-time permanent staff position with LIMBS International upon completion.
