POSITION TITLE: Assistant Professor-Physical Education
POSITION TYPE: Northern Michigan University invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position opening in the area of Physical Education. Candidates who are interested in applying must have a doctoral degree in physical education (or a related field) from an accredited institution. Position will begin in August 2012. Closing date for applications is December 5, 2011.
RESPONSIBILTIES: Teach undergraduate courses in physical education and related areas, advise undergraduate students, supervise student teachers, engage in scholarly work, participate in service activities, and perform other assignments per departmental needs.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: K-12 experience as a certified physical education teacher, an earned doctorate in physical education (or a related field) from an accredited institution, evidence of scholarly activity.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION: College teaching experience, expertise in physical education pedagogy and school health education pedagogy, ability to teach adapted physical education, ability to teach school health education, agenda for research/scholarship, and ability to work in a collaborative interdisciplinary environment.
