    POSITION TITLE: Instructor/Assistant Professor- Physical Education

    POSITION TYPE: The Northern Michigan University Department of Health, Physical Education & Recreation currently has a tenure track (Assistant Professor) OR term (Instructor) position opening in the area of Physical Education. Candidates who are interested in applying must have an earned Master’s (term position) or, preferably, Doctoral (tenure track position) degree in physical education (or related field) from an accredited institution. Position will start August 2012. Closing date for applications is December 5, 2011.

    RESPONSIBILTIES: Teach undergraduate courses in physical education and related areas, advise undergraduate students, supervise student teachers, engage in scholarly work, participate in service activities, and perform other assignments as per departmental needs.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: K-12 experience as a certified physical education teacher and an earned Master’s (term position) or, preferably, an earned Doctoral (tenure track position) degree in physical education (or related field) from an accredited institution.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATION: College teaching experience, expertise in physical education, ability to teach in school health program, agenda for research/scholarship, and ability to work in a collaborative interdisciplinary environment.
