  • Doctoral Student Position - UConn Kinesiology

Opening for a Doctoral Student Position at the Infant & Child Development Lab, Kinesiology Department, University of Connecticut
A doctoral position in Kinesiology is available in Dr. Anjana Bhat’s research lab at the University of Connecticut-Storrs campus starting Summer or Fall 2012. The successful applicant will participate in two NIH funded research projects:
    a) The first project will assess the effects of novel interventions on imitation, coordination, and social communication skills of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs). We will be studying the effects of robotic as well as traditional motor interventions.
    b) The second project will evaluate the motor and social development of infants at risk for autism to determine early perceptuo-motor markers of ASDs.
A research assistantship is available. Opportunities exist for collaborative research with several researchers in kinesiology as well as motor control and developmental divisions of psychology. The preferred applicant will have a recent Bachelor's or a Master's degree in physical therapy or a related field in allied health as well as experience working with typically and/or atypically developing infants and children. Experience with motion analysis, behavioral coding, and software programming would also benefit this research. To apply, applicants should send a cover letter with a statement of interests, a curriculum vita, and the names of three individuals who can be contacted as references to:
