    The Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training at Boston University College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences: Sargent College is seeking to expand its research programs and faculty and is seeking nominations and applications for a full-time tenured faculty position in the area of Sports Medicine at the Associate or Full Professor level. The appointment begins in Fall 2012.

    We invite applicants who have developed a strong research program that is supported by external funding sources. We are especially interested in candidates who are interested in joining an interdisciplinary team, carrying out research, and developing clinical programs in the area of Sports Medicine. The candidate will be responsible for carrying out an independent line of research, service, and teaching in the Department of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training and/or doctoral program in Rehabilitation Science in his or her area of expertise.

    The Department is housed within a vibrant academic and research community that includes the College of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences: Sargent College, Boston University’s Charles River and Medical campuses, and numerous educational and healthcare institutions in the metro Boston area. The Department offers professional programs in Athletic Training and Physical Therapy, a post-professional program in Physical Therapy, and a Neurological Residency program. Research faculty also participate in the interdisciplinary ScD program in Rehabilitation Sciences. The department houses the NIDRR Rehabilitation Research and Training Center in Arthritis; the Center for Neurorehabilitation; several clinical service units, including the Boston University Physical Therapy Center; and maintains close affiliation with the Athletic Enhancement Center and Athletic Training Services. The Boston University Physical Therapy Center is housed in the newly renovated, state-of-the art Ryan Center for Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, which provides clinical services in the areas of physical therapy, orthopedics, family medicine, and radiology.

    BU Sargent College also offers professional and post-professional degree programs in health science; human physiology; nutrition; occupational therapy; and speech, language and hearing sciences.     Qualifications include:

    • Earned doctoral degree (PhD, ScD, EdD or equivalent)
    • Current history of externally funded research program in the area of Sports Medicine
    • Peer-reviewed publications
    • College teaching experience
