Professor/Reader in Sport Sciences and Subject Leader
Brunel University - School of Sport and Education
The School of Sport and Education is made up of the Sport Sciences and Education subject areas, which have consistently been rated highly in national league tables. This reflects a strong tradition in Sport and Education coupled with major investment in state-of-the-art facilities for research, teaching and sport leading to significant growth and development over the last five years. The School offers a vibrant, dynamic environment in which to research and teach. There is a stimulating mix of new researchers working alongside more experienced colleagues.
The Subject Leaders in both areas are pivotal positions that provide academic leadership across the diversity of our teaching and learning and research/knowledge transfer activities. At a time of dramatic change in the HE environment, the appointees should be able to demonstrate a breadth of experience in academic and leadership to build upon the success the subject areas have achieved. In addition to day-today line-management of all academic and academic-related staff, the subject leaders should be able to advocate on behalf of the subject, and represent its interests to the university senior management and the outside world. The Subject Leaders will therefore need to combine leadership of the development of the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching portfolios and line management of staff with appropriate standing in research.
Vacancy Ref: ABA0234-1
