A post-doctoral research fellow position is available at the University of Southampton. The project is focused on evaluating the potential use of microindentation and similar approaches to complement fracture risk diagnosis in patients. The project has a biomechanical focus and will include microindentation as well as conventional fracture toughness measurements. This 3-year post is part of an EPSRC funded program to essentially answer the question whether additional diagnostic parameters could improve the prediction of fracture risk based on bone mineral density. To achieve this. the project brings together principal investigators from clinical medicine, epidemiology, developmental biology and mechanical engineering.
