  • Post-doctoral Fellow Position in Neuro-Rehabilitation in Houston, TX

    The UTHealth Motor Recovery Laboratory at TIRR Memorial Hermann Hospital (www.motorrecoveryhouston.org) is seeking a highly motivated researcher to join the laboratory and contribute to ongoing projects. The research laboratory is part of Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. The lab is housed in the outpatient clinic at TIRR Memorial Hermann Hospital that allows easy and convenient access to patient populations, including stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, amputation and pain.

    A successful candidate should have a recent PhD degree in an area related to neuro-rehabilitation, such as rehabilitation science, movement neuroscience, biomechanics, kinesiology, etc. Experience with experimental studies of movement neuroscience as well as knowledge of LabView and Matlab are essential. Experience with clinical studies, good English and communication skills are desired. Experience with TMS is a plus.

    The new Post-Doctoral Fellow will be expected to contribute to some of the following ongoing research projects: 1) Clinical application of respiratory-motor coupling; 2) Electrical stimulation for neuropathic pain management; 3) Pathophysiology and management of spasticity. In addition, development of new projects for possible grant proposal submission and collaboration with other faculty members is strongly encouraged.

    The initial appointment is for one year with a possibility of extension. Salary depends on the experience. Positions will remain open until filled.
