The Department of Health and Sport Sciences (HSS) at The University of Memphis is currently seeking Master’s-level graduate assistants in the areas of research, teaching, service, and administration beginning fall 2012. Research assistantships are available for well-qualified students to work within department laboratories and directly with a faculty mentor. Teaching assistantships are available for well-qualified and certified students to provide instruction within activity-specific undergraduate courses. Service assistantships are available for well-qualified students who may work within community agencies. Administrative assistantships are available for well-qualified students to provide technology, facilities, and/or clerical support within or outside of the department. Assistantships are typically nine months (with some limited options for summer employment), and include a monthly stipend and full tuition waiver for the fall and spring semesters (12 credit hours per semester).
The Department of HSS provides students with a quality education focused on the fundamental principles of exercise, health, nutrition, physical activity, leisure and sport, while equipping them with the cutting-edge knowledge and skills needed to fulfill leadership roles in their chosen area of specialty. Master’s-level graduate programs are available in the areas of Exercise and Sport Science, Health Promotion, Clinical Nutrition, Physical Education Teacher Education, and Sport Commerce.
