Summary: This is a Contract paid Internship Position for part-time work (W9 Employee). Work for this position will be in our Forensic Expert Witness Group to support casework under civil or criminal litigation.
Supervision: This part-time intern will report directly to the President/CEO of the Company. The President/CEO of the Company will direct all assignments and perform all performance evaluations. Other Forensic and Technical Experts within the firm will also provide mentoring and supervision, as necessary.
Duties:
• Assist Technical staff with Forensic Engineering casework, as assigned and supervised by lead Technical Expert
• Interact with Animators and other Technical staff, as needed.
• Supervision and work direction from staff Engineers and Technical Experts.
• Attend Quarterly Staff Meetings, and additional meetings, as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Experience/Qualification Requirements:
• M.S. in Mechanical, or Biomedical Engineering or equivalent and Focus: Biomechanics
• Experience with Motion Capture technology and software
Additional Preferred Experience/Qualifications:
• Ph.D. in Mechanical, or Biomedical Engineering or equivalent and Focus: Biomechanics
• P.E. or F.E. certification, California.
• Engineering testing: ability to perform and assist staff engineers in various engineering testing and provide practical input in order to obtain accurate recreations of accident events.
• Video and Photography skills.
• Surveying skills.
Work location:
• Corporate Headquarters Office: Sunnyvale, CA
• Work will take place predominately weekdays, Monday-Friday, but may occasionally involve Weekends and Holidays.
• When interactions with staff Engineers/Technical Experts are needed, this will usually take place in person in Sunnyvale, CA or over the phone/internet, as needed.
• Case-related forensic testing performed at various locations in the Western USA, predominately near Sunnyvale, CA and typically outside in the environment.
• Travel in the Western USA may be required, depending on candidate’s skills and duties as assigned.
Employment Status/Benefits: Part-time paid internship with 1 year mandatory probationary period. Mandatory performance evaluations by supervisor performed minimally at 3 and 6 month time-points. Mentoring will be provided by Supervisor and Technical staff. Goal: Training toward being an independent Forensic Expert Witness.
Pay: Negotiable and based upon education, training, and experience.
