    Postdoctoral Fellowship

The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at University of Michigan Medical Center announces availability of a federally sponsored post-doctoral fellowship with the University of Michigan Direct Brain Interface (UM-DBI) project. Fellows interested in research work on electroencephalogram (EEG)-based brain computer interfaces (BCIs) to operate assistive technology devices are encouraged to apply. The fellow will develop an independent project as well as participate in a comprehensive curriculum of didactic activities. The overall goal of this fellowship is to prepare trainees who have primary interest in pursuing academic careers.

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate to join our project to adapt, develop and test algorithms for BCIs operating under clinical instead of laboratory conditions. The UM-DBI project has interfaced BCI2000 with commercial assistive technology that accepts standardized inputs and will be extending functionality. Specific challenges include BCI operation during no-control periods when the user is engaged in activities other than active BCI use and improving interface response time for specific tasks.

Applicants should have completed all requirements for a Ph.D. and should be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Interested candidates should send a cover letter indicating future research plans, a CV, three letters of recommendation and a sample of academic work to Jane Huggins, Ph.D., Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Med Inn Building Room C640, 1500 E. Medical Center Dr., Ann Arbor, MI 48109-5841G. Applicants must also apply online through the University of Michigan website at http://www.umich.edu/~jobs/ to complete the application process.

The University of Michigan is an Equal Opportunity Affirmative Action Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, or citizenship or veteran status as provided by law.
