About the Job
The mission of the Department of BioMedical Engineering at the Steadman Philippon Research Institute is to advance patient care by focusing on the development and validation of novel surgical treatments, rehabilitation techniques, as well as injury mechanisms and prevention using state-of-the-art biomedical research technologies and techniques. We are seeking a someone who can assimilate and work with the staff scientists, physicians and administration to further our academic research projects in a very rigorous and high-profile environment. It is anticipated that the applicant will be able to accept the challenge of this environment and represent themselves and the Institute to the utmost capabilities.

Responsibilities of the BioMedical Engineering Research Intern
- Assist in data collection in the laboratory for multiple concurrent studies and provide proper documentation and organization of the collected data.
- Test and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure reliability and validity of the data collection processes.
- Assist in abstract and manuscript preparation on a daily basis, with the goal of (co-)authoring 4-5 peer-reviewed publications per year.
- Participate in a special weekly sports medicine grand rounds and seminar series that introduces you to rapidly progressing research areas
- Represent yourself and the Institute well in the community
Qualifications
- Demonstrated proficiency in biomechanics instrumentation, data collections and research principles
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to communicate technical information to all staff and surgeons.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Adaptable to various environments
- Able to work as a team member in a very active research group.
- Proficient in writing skills to include abstract and manuscript preparation.
- This position is not restricted to individuals with US citizenship, permanent residence or work permits. However, no visa sponsorship will be provided and individuals must provide evidence of valid USA VISA status at the time of application.
