  • Post-doctoral fellow at The Ohio State University, Sports Health and Performance Inst

Dr. Timothy Hewett from The Ohio State University, Sports Health and Performance Institute, is seeking highly motivated and qualified applicants for a mentored post-doctoral fellow in sports medicine and injury biomechanics to begin as early as Summer of 2012. Application reviews will begin March 15, 2012 and will continue until positions are filled.

Applicants must possess a PhD in a field related to biomechanical systems analyses, including but not limited to: mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, biomechanics, movement and exercise science, physical therapy, or exercise physiology. Ideal applicants will have published in peer-reviewed journals, and demonstrate the ability to secure independent funding. Applicants should have a specific interest in biomechanical-epidemiological studies evaluating injury risk in active individuals. Interested clinicians must be eligible for licensure in the State of Ohio. Expertise implementing large-scale clinical trials using 3-dimensional motion analysis techniques is preferred.

The Sports Medicine Research Laboratories, The Biodynamics Laboratory and the Movement Analysis and Performance program at Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center feature a multi-disciplinary faculty with expertise in biomechanics, biomedical and mechanical engineering, medicine, physiology, cell and tissue biology, physical therapy, athletic training, and other sports and exercise sciences. The current lab space is 4500+ sq. ft. with 600 sq. ft. of testing space, which includes multiple 3D motion capture systems, multi-axial force plates, multiple dynamometers and wireless EMG systems. The successful candidate will be part of an expanding laboratory which will include a new additional 5000+ sq. ft. of testing space, with an additional state of the art laboratories and research systems.

Interested applicants must send the following in order to be considered for the position: (1) updated CV, (2) letter of interest, and (3) at least two writing samples. Please send this information to Maureen Soule at
