A junior faculty position is open immediately at the Med-X Research Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China, in the areas of neural rehabilitation for stroke patients and sensory feedback for prosthetic hand, as well as in neuromodulation of DBS for Parkinson’s disease. It is expected that the successful candidate will develop an independent research program in experimental and computational approaches to investigating next generation of DBS for treating Parkinson’s disorder, adaptive strategies for FES control, and their translational applications to clinical rehabilitation. Applicants should have completed post-doctoral training, and have a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering, or Biomechanics, or Neural Physiology, or Biokinesiology. Candidates who have a strong motivation to pursue a research career in the field of human motor control and rehabilitation will be given to the priority of consideration.
The research will be performed in Institute of Rehabilitation Engineering of the Med-X Research Institute, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, in collaboration with clinical hospitals of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The Med-X Research Institute is a newly established center with rehabilitation engineering as one of its main directions. It provides a dynamic environment for collaboration with a range of disciplines within the University, such as Digital Medicine, Biomedical Engineering, Systems Biology, Neuroscience and Neuroengineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nano-biomaterials, Micro-Electronics and MEMS, as well as its top clinical hospitals in Shanghai.
