Two post-doctoral fellow positions are open immediately at the Med-X Research Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China, in the areas of neural rehabilitation for stroke patients and sensory feedback for prosthetic hand, as well as in neuromodulation of DBS for Parkinsonís disease. It is expected that the successful candidates will develop experimental and computational methods to investigate next generation of DBS for treating Parkinsonís disorder, adaptive strategies of FES control, and will initiate translational applications to clinical rehabilitation for patients with stroke, Parkinsonís disease and amputation. Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering, or Biomechanics, or Neural Physiology, or Biokinesiology. Candidates who have a strong motivation to pursue a research career in the field of human motor control and rehabilitation will be given to the priority of consideration.
The research will be performed in Institute of Rehabilitation Engineering of the Med-X Research Institute, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, in collaboration with clinical hospitals of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The Med-X Research Institute is a newly established center with rehabilitation engineering as one of its main directions. It provides a dynamic environment for collaboration with a range of disciplines within the university, such as Digital Medicine, Biomedical Engineering, Systems Biology, Neuroscience and Neuroengineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nano-biomaterials, Micro-Electronics and MEMS, as well as its top clinical hospitals in Shanghai.
Applications will be accepted from March 1, 2012 till the positions are filled. Interested candidates please contact:
