  • PhD student position in Biomechanics at University of Tennessee, Knoxville

The Biomechanics program at The University of Tennessee at Knoxville is seeking applicants to our doctoral program in Biomechanics for Fall, 2012. The doctoral students in the program are funded through teaching and/or research assistantship during their study at UT with tuition waiver and health insurance benefit. Students with a thesis in their master degree program in Biomechanics, Kinesiology, biomedical engineering, or related fields with a strong background in experimental biomechanics, and/or computer programming and muscle modeling are encouraged to apply.

Current research interests in the lab include injury mechanisms and prevention of lower extremity, knee osteoarthritis, knee and ACL injury, biomechanical functions of athletic footwear and medical orthoses, overuse injury in runners, and human performance mechanisms.

The Biomechanics Laboratory is housed in a facility of 3,000 square feet for subject preparation, warmup, and testing, data processing and analysis, and teaching in biomechanics. The lab is currently equipped with two VICON systems (9- and 6-camera systems), 3 AMTI force platforms, an 8-channel Noraxon EMG system, an RSscan plantar pressure mat and insole system, an F-Scan plantar pressure system, a treadmill, among other equipment and various kinds of software (Visual3D, Matlab, SIMM, and various customized programs).
