Postdoctoral Fellowship in Rehabilitation of Individuals with Multiple Sclerosis

The Knecht Movement Science Laboratory in the Department of Physical Therapy, University of Illinois at Chicago (http://www.uic.edu/ahp/pt/Aindex.html) is looking for a highly motivated individual for a post-doctoral research fellow.

The four areas of focus for our research are: enhancement of control of posture and gait, performance of functional tasks involving upper extremities, and the development of new rehabilitation approaches.

The Knecht Movement Science Laboratory is equipped with a 6-camera motion capture system (VICON), force plates (AMTI, Kistler), a 16 channel EMG system (MA300), Balance Master and GaitRite systems, and several specialized test jigs for the study of the neuromusculoskeletal system. The laboratory has both extramural and intramural collaborations.

The requirements of the position include the completion of a doctorate (PhD, MD, DSc.) in kinesiology, biomechanics, motor control, rehabilitation sciences, physical therapy, or a related discipline; experience in working with clinical populations, and in the collection, analysis and interpretation of kinematic, kinetic and electromyographic data related to human movements; computer programming (e.g. MATLAB, LabView) and good communication skills. MS experience is not necessary, but an asset.

The post-doctoral position is supported by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, is for 1-2 years and renewable to three years, available from July 1, 2012, and remains open until the appropriate candidate is chosen.

Interested candidates should send cover letter, curriculum vita, and the contact information for three references to:
